The pickaxes are drawn from the train station and belted to a crate, distributed from there by belt/wagons. All product is inbound from barns used as consolidation points for local production. Every rail car is filtered for it's intended cargo. Every train has a unique label, no filters on the loaders. Other trains (each labeled for it's element) pick up mana stones, two pick up ethers. May be I'm missing something.Īt one station my train picks up coal & mana stones, drops off pickaxes. I'll try to keep it simple enough not to write a novel here. It works well enough if your task is binary (this item in, that item out). Now my little flock of steam locomotives are chugging around like they know what they're all about. My mistake was setting inbound and outbound items together in a station assigned as 'storage' rather than _input_ and _output_ items. Yes, I did manage to figure out the train stations.

I'm having a great time figuring it all out (and so I try not to ask too many questions) Yes, they've had many years with a much larger staff to develop so the comparison isn't warranted. I've built maps in Factorio with hundreds of trains so perhaps I'm just a bit spoilt where selectivity is concerned. Maybe I'll just run a delay timer on a blocker to hold the train long enough to fill what I want. It appears to be trying to load 'everything' even when the train's cars' filters are set to other things.

The hold until full function of the train station isn't real intuitive. I'm still fussing out the logic but hoping it will come clear eventually. Also, you managed to address the capacity issue of the rails before I asked the question. I like the way you did the buttons for adding cars. Originally posted by Erik Asmussen:How'd it go? (This isn't a question, I'm not sure how I missed this instruction, but maybe someone else stupid like me will be struggling with this as well and will find this thread).
#Pickaxes with 0 input delay how to
I tried digging through the steam and reddit forums, googling directly, and couldn't find any advice on how to do it.įinally I watched a 40 minute youtube video about steam engines and halfway in I saw that you DROP the mine cart DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE ENGINE ITSELF, and it automatically jumps to the back of the chain. I tried laying on the floor and crying and eating Nutella straight from the tub with my fingers, and although satisfying, this also did not fix the problem. I tried making the mine cart run into the back of the Steam Locomotive figuring they'd "click" together on impact, but that didn't work either.

I went through the tutorial on Steam Locomotives, which was very informative, but it didn't explain exactly HOW to connect a mine cart to a steam locomotive.įirst I tried just building them in a line, but as soon as I hit "go" the engine ran off leaving the carts behind.
